One Year On: Rygor Group’s Partnership with GreenTheUK Continues to Flourish

One year after launching its partnership with GreenTheUK, Rygor Group is proud to reflect on the positive impact its wildflower planting initiative has had on local biodiversity and community spaces.

In April 2024, teams from Rygor’s sites in the Heathrow and Hounslow areas rolled up their sleeves at Long Lane Recreation Ground and Stanwell Moor Recreation Ground to seed native wildflowers and grasses, helping transform underutilised green spaces into vibrant, pollinator-friendly habitats. Since then, the areas have blossomed into colourful, buzzing environments.

Rygor Group has now supported five hectares (50,000 sq m) of wildflower planting across the UK in collaboration with GreenTheUK, helping to boost pollinator populations and restore biodiversity in urban and semi-urban settings. Moreover, Rygor Group contributed to the creation of wildflower, vegetable and herb gardens in four schools across Reading and Swindon, which engaged more than 100 children through the learning of looking after wildlife and the local environment.

The initiative was supported by Buglife, one of the UK’s leading invertebrate conservation charities. The wildflower meadows planted in 2024 are now supporting essential pollinators such as bees and butterflies, a project which contributes to national efforts to reverse biodiversity loss and create sustainable green corridors.

John Keogh, managing director at Rygor Group, said: “All individuals and businesses have a role to play in enriching our local communities, proactively contributing to better wildlife and environment, helping shape the future for younger generations. We know that in the grand scheme of things, this is a small contribution, but believe it is still important to raise awareness of projects like GreenTheUK who is striving to help businesses support local, tangible wildlife projects that deliver real impact. This cannot, however, be where our journey ends and we will continue to look at how we can best support our local communities, not only as a key employer in our local area, but by making a positive impact to our society.”

Xanthe Caldecott, Managing Director of GreenTheUK: “Rygor’s support has made a real difference – restoring five hectares of wildflower meadows in schools, hospital grounds, parks, and residential areas across Camgate, Reading, Swindon, and Gloucestershire. It’s great to see a business supporting their local nature and helping biodiversity thrive in the communities where their teams live and work”.
